The gait laboratory is designed to analyze and quantify human walking using principles of biomechanics and engineering. It provides students with tools to study human movement, assess gait abnormalities, and evaluate assistive devices such as prosthetics and orthotics.
Motion Capture System: Tracks body movements in 3D using infrared cameras and reflective markers.
Force Plates: Measure ground reaction forces to analyze joint loads and balance.
Electromyography (EMG) : Records muscle activity during walking.
Walkway: Provides a controlled environment for walking trials.
Software & Workstations: Used for data acquisition, biomechanical modeling, and analysis (Visual3D, OpenSim, MATLAB).
