About the lab

In this lab, students use a rotative viscometer to measure the viscosity of different fluids. By adjusting the rotation speed, they can observe how viscosity responds to shear rate, allowing for a comparison between Newtonian fluids (which maintain constant viscosity) and non-Newtonian fluids (whose viscosity changes with shear). This hands-on experiment demonstrates fluid behavior under different flow conditions.
