Prof. Jules Blais
Dr. Jules M. Blais is a professor in the Department of Biology and cross-appointed in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Ottawa. He specializes in environmental science, environmental chemistry, limnology, and aquatic science.
He studies human impacts on natural environments, particularly by identifying sources, pathways, and the fate of chemicals in environmental media. Dr. Blais and his team utilize environmental archives, such as sediment cores, to track historical environmental changes.

Our projects span a range of topics related to chemical tracers in the environment.
Our projects range from the fate and effects of environmental pollutants to the study of lake sediment cores as natural archives of historical information about past environments.

Sediment core dating by lead-210 analysis:
We offer a range of dating techniques for recent (<150 year old) sediments or peat cores via the decay of 210Pb for paleoenvironmental studies. See the full list →
