Creating a circuit with various types of materials
This activity includes being innovative, and creative, collaborating with a group to create a circuit with various materials. The students are given materials that produce electricity and materials that do not. I have included this activity because it reflects how I think about teaching. I want my students to think critically about how they create, but I want to encourage active collaboration. The activity teaches that the outside does not always show the inside and how collaboration can create multiple solutions.

Visiting the National Art Gallery
We visited the National Gallery as a class in the fall semester. There I learned the importance of including multiple examples and asking critical questions. When students can build their understanding in familiar ways they can strengthen their learning. They may not be familiar with an art form or technique, but you can ask how it makes them feel, and what they notice. The critical questions help them to develop their sense of community and how they view their surroundings.

Silent Tea Party
The silent tea party is an activity that allows the teacher to evaluate a student’s understanding of a text and reading comprehension. Inferencing is an important skill for a student to learn because it helps to build their understanding of social and situational norms.

Canadian Trivia
This activity is an example of continued learning or a place where I would look to attend PD sessions because I am continuously learning about Indigenous history. It is a part of my practice to teach students that learning and growing does not stop after graduation, but in fact, you will never know everything.

Ozobot (EVO classroom)
I have included this activity to showcase where I would use technology or manipulatives in my teaching. I am interested in exploring more about how to teach coding as I have never learned about it in school. I also think that using kits like Ozobots is an example of when technology would be acceptable to use in schools or what it might look like as a career.
