Researching and developing natural pest control methods that are environmentally friendly and do not harm non-target species. This project could involve the identification of bioactive compounds from plants, microbes, or other organisms that can deter pests or diseases affecting crops.
Researching the production of biofuels from algae, plant biomass, or waste materials. This could involve developing new methods for converting biomass into biofuels more efficiently or identifying new sources of biomass that are sustainable and do not compete with food production.
Developing environmentally friendly nanomaterials for use in agriculture, medicine, and industry. This could involve synthesizing biodegradable nanoparticles that can deliver pesticides or fertilizers more effectively or creating nanostructures that mimic natural processes for water purification.
Investigating the use of plant materials to create biodegradable alternatives to plastics. This could include researching the production of bioplastics from plant starches or cellulose, or developing composite materials that combine plant fibers with biodegradable polymers for enhanced strength and durability.
