Mr. Lavryssen’s Digital Hub

My name is Nick Lavryssen, and my students call me Mr. Lavryssen! I grew up here in Ottawa and attended OCSB schools exclusively. Faith and religion often drive me which is what led me to pursue my undergrad in Spiritual and Religious studies at Saint Paul’s University, which is also here in Ottawa near the University of Ottawa campus.

I am very grateful that my calling to be a teacher is something I have had for a long time since I was a kid myself. My ADHD and OCD weren’t diagnosed until I reached university so I had a lot of problems in school especially since they weren’t as common and understood as they are nowadays. Fortunately, I had a few amazing teachers who, even without understanding why I behaved the way I did, looked past my more than disruptive behaviors and worked hard to help me develop into someone who saw my diagnosis not as something that holds me back but as something I can use to propel me above others. These teachers had such a large impact on my life that I decided I wanted to be a teacher myself so I can do the same for other students.
