Biology, Specialization in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology
Faith Izevbizua is a Master’s student in Biology, specializing in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology at the University of Ottawa. She holds a master’s degree in environmental management and a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. Prior to her graduate studies, she led multiple international projects focused on environmental pollution abatement, gaining extensive experience in environmental project management.
Her current research focuses on developing a holistic Human Health Risk Assessment framework incorporating the One Health approach to better capture the dynamic interactions between human health, environmental exposures, animal health, and ecosystem integrity. Her work seeks to advance risk assessment beyond linear models to address complex, real-world environmental health challenges. Faith remains driven by a commitment to advancing environmental health management and policy, with particular interest in contributing to global health improvements.
This research develops a holistic Human Health Risk Assessment framework based on the One Health approach, considering how people interact with the environmental, animal, and ecosystem. By embracing these dynamic interconnections, the framework moves beyond traditional linear risk assessment models to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex pathways through which environmental hazards impact human health.
